Kottakkal USA is an authorized distributor of Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala (AVS) herbal products. AVS was established at Kottakkal in Kerala State of India in 1902 by visionary physician and philanthropist, the late Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier. It essentially began as a village clinic, and has now grown into a multi-unit hospital, educational institution, research institution and manufacturer of AVS herbal products. AVS operates three Ayurvedic Hospitals located in Kottakkal, Delhi, and Kochi and for 120 years has operated as a charitable institution engaged in the practice and propagation of Ayurveda. AVS offers classical Ayurvedic products and authentic Ayurvedic therapies to people from all over the world.

AVS manufactures classical herbal products

AVS operates three manufacturing sites located at Kottakkal, Kanjikode, and Nanjangud where more than 550 classical Ayurvedic medicines are manufactured. AVS undertakes the task of planned cultivation of medicinal plants in herbal gardens as part of a project of conservation and sustainable use of medicinal plants.

The Research and Development Department is actively engaged in research work for modernization of production and quality control of Ayurvedic herbal products. The Centre for Medicinal Plants Research (CMPR) was established at Kottakkal in 2003 to undertake modern research in the various aspects of medicinal plants. CMPR is now recognized as a Centre of Excellence by the Department of AYUSH by the Government of India. The Publications Department produces various books on Ayurveda and allied topics. A quarterly medical journal "Aryavaidyan" is also published.

Why do we blog?

The ‘Healing with Kottakkal Ayurveda’ weekly blog was first issued in June 2016. Since then, many informative articles offered by many authors have been added to our collection of blogs. Since the beginning, the Kottakkal USA blog has informed many customers and we look forward to continually adding relevant topics to our collection of blogs.

Our goal for writing this newsletter is to educate on Ayurvedic health and wellness and to inform Ayurvedic professionals which Kottakkal products are available in our warehouse located in New Paltz, New York.

Guaranteed Heavy Metal Testing

AVS continually monitors the heavy metal content of all products, including individual batches of each product. Accurate testing is assured by using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. AVS certifies the heavy metal content in their products is well under the limits set forth by the Indian and US government agencies.

Lead - 10 ppm	Mercury - 1 ppm
Arsenic - 3 ppm	Cadmium - 0.3 ppm

 

Due to the excellent quality of Kottakkal products, there are illegal sellers offering products online from India. We advise customers to take care as these products may carry heavy metals higher than US permissible amounts. Also, as an importer of AVS herbal products we are required to offer product labels in English and carry insurance to ensure the public is protected.
