Kottakkal USA Ayurveda Institute

At Kottakkal Ayurveda Institute our mission is to help prepare students to Integrate traditional Ayurvedic principles, herbal knowledge and healing methodologies with current Healthcare methodologies focused on major chronic Lifestyle Diseases like cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, respiratory conditions and others. Managing these chronic diseases through ever-increasing quantities of pharmaceuticals and procedures with debatable results along with corresponding  financial costs and increasing side effects have moved people to seek Complementary and Alternative medicines. Covid Pandemic has brought renewed interest in emerging medicines in conventional Health care - Lifestyle, Function, and Culinary medicines.

Thousands of years of knowledge from Ayurveda can enhance the growing body of evidence that an individualized approach, a healthy lifestyle, plant based food, stress management practices, physical activities etc. can better serve the chronically diseased and could even prevent them.

We focus on mainly two category of students:

1. Students of Ayurveda study intensively for two years. These students can then enter the Healthcare industry working as Complementary or Alternative health coaches under licensed Healthcare professionals or open their own independent health coaching. They are also encouraged to pursue healthcare degrees in these emerging medical sciences for wider assistance to the society and for their own fruitful careers in Healthcare.

2. Existing healthcare professionals study for a year to add to their practice the Ayurveda knowledge of Lifestyle, Food, and herbs based comprehensive healthcare.

Upon completion of these courses, the students can choose to study Ayurveda principles to help manage chronic diseases. Our focus is on preparing our students in designing individualized modalities for Lifestyle diseases that Ayurveda is well placed to help alleviate, with emphasis on fresh food, herbs, a sattvic lifestyle & a satisfied mind.

We are based at a 200-acre active farm in upstate NY of our sister organization Gopal Farm. Our facilities include instruction rooms, demo kitchen/restaurant, residences, farm fields, ethical dairy, meditation/yoga hall, hiking trails, and more.
